Player of the Week
Michael Redd – The sharp-shooting guard poured in 36 points in the Milwaukee Bucks' win in San Antonio, and for the week he averaged 27 as his team won three of four games. Redd's play has helped the Bucks win seven of their last eight games and put them back in contention in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Game of the Week
Friday: Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs – The Southwest Division rivals get together for the third time this season on Friday in what promises to be an intense game. With only one more meeting between the two clubs in the regular season, this becomes a critical game in the series, which could eventually determine the division title.

The NBA's top two teams met in Dallas on Thursday night, and in a fitting conclusion to a thrilling game, Dirk Nowitzki drained a long jumper with one second to go as the Mavericks knocked off the Suns 101-99.
The win was Dallas' eighth straight and solidified its hold on the No. 1 ranking. Phoenix, meanwhile, has won 20 of its last 23 games since a 1-5 start and, as a result, moves into the second spot, surpassing San Antonio.
In the East, a couple of young, exciting teams are running and gunning their way back into the league's spotlight. Both Chicago and Washington are playing entertaining ball and look like true contenders in their conference.
Here's a look at this week's rankings (records and statistics are through Dec. 31):
 1. Dallas Mavericks (24-7, Last ranking: 1) – 에이브리 존슨은 NBA 최단기간 100승을 기록했고 맵스는 덴버에 89-95로 승리하면서 10연승을 달렸다.

 5. Chicago Bulls (19-12, Last ranking: 7) – 벤 고든은 마이애미 전에서 40점을 기록하며 승리를 이끌었다. 그리고 시카고 선수가 40점 이상을 기록한 것은 6년만이다.(엘튼 브랜드가 2000년 4월13일날에 44점을 기록했었다.)
 6. Washington Wizards (17-13, Last ranking: 8) – 위저즈는 동부의 피닉스가 되어가고 있다. 지난 14게임에서 평균 102+ 득점을 기록하고 있다.
 7. Los Angeles Lakers (20-11, Last ranking: 4) – 이미 라마 오덤이 없는 레이커스에 부상은 계속되고 있다. 콰미 브라운은 지난 일요일 경기에서 왼쪽 발목을 심하게 접질렀다.
 8. Houston Rockets (19-12, Last ranking: 9) – 나쁘지 않은 한주였다. : 비록 넷츠,호크스, 그리즐리스의 쉬운 스케쥴이었지만, 야오 없이 3승 1패를 거뒀다. 야오 없이 살아남기 위해서 노력하는 만큼 점점더 힘들어 질것이다.
 9. Detroit Pistons (18-11, Last ranking: 5) – 피스톤즈에게 힘든 한주였다. 3연패를 기록중이지만, 더 중요한 것은, 챈시 빌업스를 잃었다는 것이다. 장단지 부상으로 2-3주 정도 결장할 것이다.
 10. Cleveland Cavaliers (17-12, Last ranking: 12) – 캐버리어스는 이번 달이 자신들을 재확인할 고비가 될것이다. 다음 14게임중 10게임이 원정경기이고, 그중에 혹독한 서부에서의 10게임도 포함되어있다.
 11. Milwaukee Bucks (16-15, Last ranking: 15) – 벅스는 샌안토니오가 자랑하는 수비앞에서 페인트존 득점으로만 76득점(!)을 기록했다. 그리고 시즌초 2승2패 이후로 처음으로 5할 이상 승률을 기록했다.
 12. Indiana Pacers (17-15, Last ranking: 13) – 디트와의 원정 게임에서는 승리했지만 밥캣츠에게 홈에서 일격을 당했다. The Pacers are still trying to string together some wins and gather some momentum.
 13. Orlando Magic (18-14, Last ranking: 11) – 매직은 화요일 밤 워싱턴에게 일격을 당했고 1위자리를 내주었다. 이번주에 3번의 홈게임이 브라이언 힐의 팀이 다시 본 궤도에 올라설 기회가 될것이다.
 14. Miami Heat (13-17, Last ranking: 14) – 드웨인 웨이드는 손부상으로 결장중이고, and the Heat got pummeled. 올랜도 전에선 페인트존에서 14득점을 했을 뿐이다. 웨이드의 페네트레이션이 그립구나.
 15. Los Angeles Clippers (14-16, Last ranking: 22) – Finally, a little momentum. The Clips won three in a row last week for the first time since early November. A six-game eastern swing starts Tuesday in Orlando.
 16. Denver Nuggets (16-12, Last ranking: 10) –너겟츠는 멜로의 복귀까지 아이버슨의 힘으로 겨우 버티고 있다. 다음 9게임중 7게임이 5할이상 승률의 팀들이다.
 17. Sacramento Kings (13-15, Last ranking: 19) – 퀀시 더비가 21득점으로 골든스테이츠전 대승을 이끌었다. 마이크 비비가 발목부상으로 데이투데이에 올랐기에 더비의 활약이 필요한 시점이다.
 18. Golden State Warriors (16-16, Last ranking: 16) – 워리어스에게 배드뉴스 : 제이리치는 오른손 골절로 두달정도 라인업에서 빠지게 될것이다.
 19. Minnesota Timberwolves (13-15, Last ranking: 18) – 랜디 포이의 시대가 왔다.: 시카고 전에서 커리어 하이인 25득점을 기록하면서 1.8초를 남기고 위닝샷을 성공시켰다.
 20. New Orleans Hornets (12-18, Last ranking: 20) – 이미 힘든 지경인 호넷츠에게 더큰 악재가 지난주에 발생했다. 크리스 폴이 부상으로 거의 한달간 결장하게될것이다. 플레이오프로 가기엔 정말 암울해졌다.
 21. Toronto Raptors (13-18, Last ranking: 21) – 포드가 발목부상으로 결장한 멤피스전은 결국 패했다. 포드는 그전 4게임에서 평균 24득점과 8어시스트를 기록중이었다.
 22. Portland Trail Blazers (13-18, Last ranking: 17) – 블레이저스는 지난 4게임중 3패를 당했다. but they've come a long way since a year ago. Portland has already matched last season's win total on the road with six.
 23. New York Knicks (13-20, Last ranking: 23) – Stephon Marbury, with 41 points and eight assists, enjoyed the best game he's had in a long time in the Knicks' thrilling triple overtime victory over Detroit.
 24. New Jersey Nets (13-18, Last ranking: 25) –미키 무어가 크리스티치가 시즌아웃된 네츠에게 많은 도움이 되고 있다. 미네소타전에서 9/9 야투를 기록하면서 커리어 하이인 20득점으로 승리에 일조했다.
 25. Seattle SuperSonics (13-19, Last ranking: 24) – 레이 앨런이 얘들 생일 때문에 덴버 경기에 결장했고, 팀은 대패했다. 루이스가 없는 지금 팀 공격의 많은 짐을 앨런 혼자 지고 가야한다.
 26. Charlotte Bobcats (9-21, Last ranking: 29) – 밥캣츠는 레이커스와 페이서스를 상대로 연승을 기록했다. 이번 시즌들어 1주일에 2승을 거두긴 처음이다.
 27. Philadelphia 76ers (8-22, Last ranking: 28) – 로드니 카니의 커리어 하이 25득점은 골든스테이츠를 상대하는데 충분하지 못했나 보다. 그러나 식서스는 카니의 포텐셜에 큰 기대를 걸고 있다. 아이버슨이 없는 지금 충분한 플레잉 타임을 부여하고 있다.
 28. Boston Celtics (10-19, Last ranking: 26) – 피어스없는 셀틱스는 그저 마구 굴러떨어지고 있을 뿐이다. 서부 원정 5게임중 4게임 패배를 비롯하여 6연패를 기록중인다.
 29. Atlanta Hawks (9-20, Last ranking: 27) – 일찍이 호크스가 38+승을 기록하면서 플옵에 갈거라고 예견했었지만, 호크스는 이미 포기한듯 하다. They couldn't take the pressure of my prediction, obviously.
 30. Memphis Grizzlies (7-25, Last ranking: 30) – 마이크 프라텔로가 해임되었고, 토니 배로니가 적어도 당분간은 새 감독이 되었다. 제리 웨스트는 좋은 감독을 영입하기위해 노력중..
